The Lighthouse

There is a lighthouse that only appears once every Five Days shortly before sunset. It's arrival is announced with the Blue Flames of the Beyond, summoning the creatures of darkness towards it.

On nights such as this the Lighthouse must be protected least the Blue Flames be taken by Creatures of Darkness and the world of the Living and the World of the Dead become one once more. For this the Lighthouse is granted a Keeper to live and die on the very grounds in which the Lighthouse appears upon. A human that possesses the strength to defend the Tower on their lonesome for the entire night week after week after week until they are slain or become too old to continue.

When a Keeper is retired or killed the Lighthouse summons another Keeper who possesses the same quality as their predecessor and granted a taste of the power that resides within the Lighthouse. So it has been for a thousand years and so it shall continue until the Lighthouse Falls or the gap between the worlds becomes too great.
